NCISH Suicide Prevention COVID-19 Support Update

The National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health (NCISH) send regular updates on COVID-19 Support. See below some useful new publications sent on 11th March 2021:

• A blog written by Professor Louis Appleby reflecting on the past year and the COVID-19 impact on suicide rates;
• A retrospective study published in the BMJ of mandatory reporting of suicide to the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare (the authority). The results suggest reporting of suicide was restricted to information sharing between healthcare providers and the authority and did not foster improvement for patient safety, new service improvements or learning from patient suicide.
