Self-Harm Safe Kit pilot across Cheshire and Merseyside evaluated

A Self-Harm Safe Kit pilot which included the distribution of 450 kits to nine sites across Cheshire and Merseyside has been evaluated.

The pilot commissioned by Champs Public Health Collaborative and Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership which ran from September 2021 to April 2022 was conducted to help professionals support people who presented with thoughts of self-harm or had experienced self-harming behaviour.

The evaluation study, carried out by Liverpool John Moores University, provides information about the utility and feasibility of the self-harm kits, however, the data was limited in the number of responses from recipients and thus should be interpreted with caution.

The next steps will be to review the recommendations within the report and have onward discussions with partners around utilising the kits moving forwards.
